A total of 108 students at Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE) and Women’s University in Africa (WUA) are better equipped to navigate the world of work following career readiness engagements delivered in partnership with Crown Bank.

Facilitated by Cindy Chinomona (Programs Coordinator for BOOST), the sessions explored what it takes to become a competitive candidate in the world of work, with discussions on CV writing, professional presentation, employability competencies and interview preparation.

At WUA, the engagement featured a keynote session by Coach Stern Zvavamwe, a Certified Career Development Specialist and founder of Candoa Careers. Speaking on “Career Readiness and Employability: Positioning University Students for Professional Success,” Coach Stern guided students on how to position themselves for career opportunities, strengthen their professional profiles and prepare for the expectations of employers. The session also included an interactive question-and-answer segment, giving students an opportunity to seek guidance and gain practical insights into navigating their career journeys.

At BUSE, three students, Sean Mutandi, Tsitsi Tauya and Vanessa Kudzaishe Katsiga were selected as Career Readiness and Talent Pipeline Brand Ambassadors, recognizing the importance of student leadership in promoting career development opportunities within the university community.

Building on these engagements, the programme will progress to online mentorship sessions, connecting students with mentors who will provide career guidance, share professional insights and support their development as they prepare for employment. Through this partnership, BOOST and Crown Bank are working to bridge the gap between academic learning and workplace expectations, helping young people develop the skills, networks and confidence needed to pursue meaningful career opportunities.
